Our aim is to promote biodiversity and sustainable
living within our community.
Parish Wildlife Wardens are people who care about the future of our wildlife and want to improve local habitats and biodiversity – in our gardens, in our parishes and in our countryside as a whole.
This initiative was one of the outcomes of a Biodiversity Conference organised by North Somerset’s Local Agenda 21 Group in 1998 (now known as TENONS – The Environmental Network of North Somerset). Since then, more than 150 local people have volunteered to become Parish Wildlife Wardens to cover the 38 parishes within North Somerset.
We try to promote wildlife issues by :-
• recording, monitoring and identifying areas of wildlife interest.
• acting as a link between the community and relevant bodies on wildlife issues
• promoting habitat creation and conservation in North Somerset
• encouraging sustainable lifestyles
